Maria Candida Gentile - Exultat
A visit to the Church of Saint Lorenzo in Lucina during the hour of vespers inspired Maria Candida to create Exultat.
An evocative and spiritual perfume which blends transcendence with matter and the sacred with the profane. In Exultat, violet and vetiver overlap and merge with Somalian frankincense but the absolute of violet leaves lends a touch of depth and spiritual charisma to this creation.
Maria Candida: The Exultat fragrance is inspired from the fragrance that Italian families used to apply to their festive clothes at weddings. The white linen prepared for the ceremonies where purified with ash and lavender.
San Lorenzo in Lucina is a basilica located in the heart of Rome, more precisely in the Colonna district. According to some experts, the origin of the name can be traced back to one of the buildings, upon which the basilica lies today, that was possibly owned by a woman named Lucina. This woman gave hospitality to the first Christian communities for their meetings and the election of Pope Damasus was reputedly held here around 366 AD.
The award-winning film director Pappi Corsicato, with his short film Libero and author of several documentaries on contemporary art – nurtures such a passion for Exultat that it has become the protagonist in his latest work.
