Nishane - Collection Shadow Play - ZENNE

The SHADOW PLAY collection by NISHANE was inspired by the traditional shadow play. This ancient form of narrative and entertainment uses flat-cut figures on bars, so as to tell stories, by means of their shadows, on a canvas. The play of light and shadow is nuanced by translucent, colored figures and plays in a creative way with the possibilities. Various effects are achieved by the skillful movement of the dolls and the light source. A talented puppeteer can walk the characters or let them dance, fight, nod and even laugh.

ZENNE is one of the main figures of the traditional Turkish shadow play, which became popular during the Ottoman period and then spread over the Ottoman Empire of Turkey and Greece. The two art directors Mert Güzel and Murat Katran dreamed of transporting the legend of Karagoz & Hacivat to today's world. Inspired by the characters of classic shadow play, a perfume trilogy with perfumer Jorge Lee was created.
